Norma J. Lampton


Norma June Lampton, 84, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Baptist Nursing Home in Independence.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO; burial in Higginsville City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Norma was born October 22, 1938, in Florence, Missouri, the daughter of August Earl and Reta (Rasa) Welpman.  On Oct. 27, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Glen Lampton. To this union two children were born, Vickie Rene Bartlett (Rex) of Grain Valley, MO, and Melvin Glen Lampton, Jr. (Mona) of Clinton, MO.  The young family made their home in Independence, where they resided for over ten years. They then relocated to the Oak Grove/Bates City area, where they resided for the next fifty years.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Welpman and Franklin Welpman; and a grandson, Zachary Kyle Lampton.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin of Bates City; her children, Vickie and Melvin Jr.; a sister, Rose Lee Welpman of Marshall, MO; two grandsons, Christopher Lampton (Calie) of Overland Park, KS, and Nathaniel Lampton of Mission, KS; and six great-grandchildren.

  2. Melvin I am very sorry to read that Norma has passed away. I have many good memories of her and my glass collecting days and then to find out her Mom and mine were just around the corner from each other at Good Shepard Home!
    She was a beautiful generous lady!
