Norma L. Copenhaver


Norma Lea (Specker) Copenhaver, peacefully passed away on October 21, 2023, at the age of 93 in St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri surrounded by her loving family. Norma was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Norma was born on November 18, 1929, in Odessa, Missouri. She was the daughter of Alvin and Gladys (Gann) Specker. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Copenhaver, her daughters Karen Williams and Kathy Baldwin, her son Kelly Copenhaver, her grandson Brandon Copenhaver, and two great grandchildren.

Norma is survived by her brother, Jimmy (Jenny) Specker, her son Keith Copenhaver, her daughter Nancy (Bruce) Turner, her son Kerry (Cindy) Copenhaver, and her grandchildren: Tracy (Mike) Bebout, Becky (Rick) Lalla, Carissa Suhr, Scott (Dot) Suhr, Matt (Michelle) Turner, Brad (Amy) Turner, Whitney (Chris) Reynolds, Jennifer (Glenn) Gilliam, Julie Houseman, Lisa (Jason) Adams, Stephanie Copenhaver, Jim (Tristen) Copenhaver, Mark Williams, Suzanne Williams and Lindsey Williams. She is also survived by 38 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and 2 dear friends:  Nancey Hill and Bob Suhr.

Norma loved spending time with family, friends and taking “Girls Road Trips”. She enjoyed reading, sewing and sitting on the patio watching the birds.

A Celebration of Life to honor Norma will be held at Odessa Senior Citizens Center, 207 South Second, Odessa, Missouri on October 28, 2023 at 4 p.m. Potluck dinner to follow, meat, drinks and table service will be provided.

Donations in Norma’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or American Diabetes Foundation.

Norma will forever be remembered for her love kindness, and dedication to her family and friends.  She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.  May her soul rest in peace.
