Betty L. Totten

With hearts of gratitude and sorrow we announce Betty Lou Totten, 96, of Platte City, Missouri went to her heavenly home on September 16th, 2026.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief stay at Kansas City Hospice House.

Betty was born in Garnett, Kansas, on October 10th, 1929 to Frances (Anderson) Rollo and Everett Rollo. She graduated from Garnett High School where she was named Composite Senior Girl for her complexion.

After she had retired from Western Electric, she spent many years working in schools and then as a daycare provider for children; whom she deeply cared for and touched the lives of many that called her ‘Grandma Betty’.

She was a woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and grace who shared her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ with all whom she met.  In 1979, she had a radical encounter with the Lord that caused her to devote her life to Christ. Which also led her husband, Cecil, to salvation before his passing in 1981.

Her walk with the Lord pioneered the future generations of the family to follow in her faithful footsteps with Jesus. Her legacy is one of bold faith and deep love for everyone she encountered.  She devoted her life to giving unyielding love and generosity to her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful daughter, sister, wife to her late husband, Cecil, of 32 years, and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil J Totten, her father Everett Rollo, her brother Gary Rollo, her mother Frances Huseby, her sister Vera Mae Marr, and many other dear extended family and friends.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Frances (Lori) Totten and Chana Medley (and son-in-law Carl Medley). As well as her 9 cherished grandchildren (CJ, Amanda, Cecilia, Nathanael, Connor, Ryan, Braden, Emily, and Lauryn), and her 7 great-grandchildren (Breauna, Jacob, Wyatt, August, Cayla, Brooke, and Elora), and 3 great-great-grandchildren (Brendan, Lincoln, and Willow).

Funeral services will be held at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.  The visitation will begin at 12PM with the funeral service to follow at 1PM. The graveside service will take place immediately after at Blue Springs Cemetery.

All flowers and any donations for the family can be sent to Royer Funeral Home.
