James B. Dye

James B. Dye

James Benjamin Dye (Jimmy), 50, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his home on October 10, 2026.

He was born November 26, 1975, to his parents, James R. Dye and Karen Dye. He was raised in the Lee’s Summit area where he made countless friends and developed the characteristics about him which everyone loved.

He was a man of many talents which opened a wide variety of opportunities to him. His creativity and ability to use his hands lent themselves well to his skills in carpentry, and his sense of adventure made him quite successful with his work in the telecommunications industry. He also had a particular joy for his practice of acupuncture which he began after obtaining his master’s degree in 2002.

In his free time, he particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends no matter the setting. He was an avid and talented fisherman who had an exceptional love and wealth of knowledge about the outdoors. His charisma and humor lifted even the most somber room. He was a devout Christian with a passion for bringing others to know Jesus.

Jimmy was known for his ability to fix anything. Unfortunately, with his passing, he cannot fix the broken hearts left behind, and it is up to us together to mend the broken pieces back together in his honor. He will be forever missed here on earth, and his legacy will live on through the memories he had created with his loved ones. While he may be in heaven, he is certainly watching closely over the family and friends which he loved so dearly.

Jimmy is survived by the love of his life, Rachael Dye; his children, David (Lexi), Taylor, Victoria, Cady, James, and Leo; and his cherished grandchildren, Dawson, Violet, and Koa, with another grandson, Drew, expected soon.

He is also survived by his father, James R. Dye (Sheila); his siblings, Maggie, Jan, Heather, Sheree, Dalton, Shanna, Misty, and Kristy.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Dye, brother-in-law, Cody Brunner, and nephew, Nate Brinkle II.

Jimmy’s family will be hosting a service and celebration of life for all of his loved ones so that they may say their goodbyes on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 5:30 PM. This will be conducted at Lake Paradise Resort, 985 NW 1901 SW Rd, Lone Jack, Missouri 64070.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be placed towards a memorial bench to be placed at his favorite fishing spot at Lake Paradise. If you wish to contribute, please send donations by Venmo to @lexi_dye (last four: 8151), or a place for a cash donation will be available at the service. If you wish to provide further support, there is also a GoFundMe available to help provide support for Rachael and Jimmy’s younger children while they transition to a life without their father (https://www.gofundme.com/f/helping-rachael-and-her-kids-through-this-loss).

Additionally, at the conclusion of the ceremony, all are welcome to partake in dinner and a brief fishing event in memory of Jimmy.
