Rose M. Tatom

Rose Mary Tatom, 89, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Rose Mary was born July 6, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Ralph and Hazel Merideth. She was a devoted and hardworking woman who spent 55 years working at Sears in several different departments before retiring at the age of 81. Rose Mary had a deep love for gardening and flowers and had a special affinity for stray cats, often making sure they received kindness and care. She enjoyed the nicer things in life and took great pleasure in sharing those things with the people around her. In her younger years, she also enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way.

Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Hazel Merideth; her son, Jack E. “Jet” Tatom; her daughter, Sheila Osborn; and her grandson, Brandon Eric Tatom.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheree West of Independence, Missouri, and Stacy Lawrence of Marshall, Missouri; granddaughters Melissa Tatom of Olathe, Kansas, and Angela West of Independence, Missouri; grandsons Brent West, Dustin Osborn of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Trevor Lawrence of Marshall, Missouri; and several great-grandchildren.

Rose Mary will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, her love of flowers and animals, her appreciation for life’s finer things, and the generosity with which she shared them with those she loved. She leaves behind a family and many loved ones who will carry her memory with them.
