Stella G. Batesel

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our mother, Stella Genieth Batesel with her sons at her side.  A beloved mother to Jeffrey (Lisa) Batesel of Unionville MO and Rodney Batesel of Green Castle MO, grandmother to Collin Batesel of Kansas City  MO, Justin Batesel of Independence MO and Rachelle Dent (Jeff) of Odessa MO,  great grandmother to Jaxson Dent and Jameson Dent, sister of Doris Ballard of Rockaway Beach MO , Delawayne Watson (Gene) of West Plains MO, James L. Gleghorn “JL” of  Warensburg MO, Aunt Neisey to many nieces and nephews and friend to all who knew and met her.

Stella was born August 4, 1939 in Day AR to Earl and Evalee Gleghorn.  She began her journey to her heavenly home to be with her beloved husband Jackie “Jack” Batesel on September 19, 2026.

Stella built a full life of faith and family.  Her greatest joy was her husband and sons which she fed meals equal to Thanksgiving dinners with fresh vegetables from their garden.  This was her love language to her family that she loved tremendously.  She and Jack traveled on vacations with their sons.  In retirement, they were snowbirds and owned a home in Donna TX.  She also enjoyed traveling to Southern MO to visit her sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed singing with her sisters and they did perform at family gatherings. She was also a lunch lady at Fort Osage High School. In later years she moved to Green Castle MO to live with her son Rodney.  She enjoyed the hummingbirds, martins, ducks, geese, turkey, deer, Lilly the dog, the pond and visiting with everyone who visited the farm.  She enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Missouri Tigers football, basketball and some baseball.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, 1823 N Blue Hills Rd, Independence, Missouri 64058.  Burial following in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. 

She is proceeded in death by the love of her life, husband Jackie “Jack” Batesel, parents Earl and Evalee Gleghorn, sisters Reba Widner, Imogene “Rosey” Dobbins, Cleta Southard, nephew Jackie Southard and niece Dorla Montgomery.  Also, her beloved dog Joey.

Special thank you to Putnam County Care Center and the Unionville Memorial Hospital.  Your care over her last few months and these last two weeks were appreciated.
