Travis Roberts
Travis Roberts (54), of Independence, MO, passed away on September 29, 2026.
He was born in Kansas City, MO in 1972, to Marvin and Linda Roberts, who were overjoyed to welcome their second son. Travis was a friend to all throughout his life, and a caring and protective older brother to the youngest Roberts son, Jeremy, who looked up to Travis.
He attended Fort Osage High School, graduating in 1990. While growing up he enjoyed a variety of activities, including archery and guitar lessons, water skiing, canoe trips, and playing soccer and basketball for school. He even taught himself how to ride a unicycle! His love of music continued throughout his life, both listening to and playing music, especially hard rock.
Throughout his adulthood, he remained a beloved member of the extended Roberts family in the greater Kansas City area, as well as by family friends and neighbors. He worked various jobs around Independence and continued to live in the area.
Travis had a razor-sharp memory for details about events, places and people from his youth. He liked to relax by going for drives and discovering places or things he hadn’t previously seen. Over the last ten years, he also became an avid painter of abstract artwork. Travis loved to gift his paintings to family and friends, and he also sold some pieces!
Travis will be remembered for his constant kindness, big heart and gentle nature. He is survived by his parents Marvin and Linda; older brother Scott Roberts; nephews Vance, Cory and Luke, and their families; and younger brother Jeremy (Sara) Roberts.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Woodford “Buddy” and Joyce Roberts, Earl and Elois Arnold, and his nephew Mason Roberts.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church (603 N Jennings Road) in Independence at 1:00 p.m., with a service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to Missouri Mental Health Foundation: https://www.missourimhf.org/donate/.
