Olivia Claire Harness-Clark (20) passed away unexpectedly at her home in Independence, MO on December 27th, 2022. She burst into the world during an ice storm on January 31st, 2002, and was just shy of her 21st birthday when she left us quietly and without warning. Olivia is survived by her mothers Jill Clark of Independence, MO, Amanda Harness Leigh and stepfather Michael Leigh of Saint Joseph, MO, her beloved brother Griffin Harness-Clark of Los Angeles, CA, grandmother Joann Clark of Independence, MO, and grandfather Richard Peer of Independence, MO. Olivia’s big, blended family included many aunts, uncles, cousins, step siblings, as well as numerous nurses, teachers, friends and helpers who have become family through the years. Olivia was preceded in death by her grandmother Peggy Harness, grandfather William Clark, and grandfather Roy Majors.
Olivia was limited due to her disability but found a way to wiggle and giggle into the hearts of all who knew her without words. Nothing came easy for her, but she had a joy-filled spirit, and was the strongest soul we have ever known. She was also one of the most stubborn souls to ever grace this earth because she needed to be. She was immensely loved and gave so much love in return. She was a teacher of strength, joy, love and acceptance. Olivia was a 2020 graduate of William Chrisman high school in Independence, MO. She loved music, movies, animals, people watching, the outdoors, walks, car rides, and adventure. The faster the better for our fearless wonder. For someone with no words she gave so much and changed so many people’s lives for the better. Her infectious laugh, sense of humor, sweet hand-holding, her sweet voice, big beautiful blue-green eyes, beautiful curly copper hair and sweet soul will be missed. She made this world a better place. She was a living example that words are meaningless; that it’s actions that truly matter. May you dance and sing among the stars now sweet girl.
