Pansy I. Lancaster

Pansy Irene Lancaster passed on November 26, 2021, at the age of 95. Her remaining children Ed, Emily, Mary, and granddaughter Jessie were by her side when she passed at Sylvia Thompson Nursing Home in Sedalia, Missouri. Pansy is the beloved mother of seven children (deceased) Pat, Margaret, Tony, Charlie, (still living) Ed, Emily, and Mary. Pansy was also the beloved grandmother of 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.

Pansy was born on November 14, 1926. Shortly after Pansy was born, her father and mother, Edgar and Margaret Stinson, made their way up the Ohio River from Tennessee through Kentucky, ending in Evansville, Indiana. They traveled up the river on a latched log raft. Her mother was afraid that Pansy would not survive the journey up the river because she could roll off the small raft or fall between the logs. In addition, Margaret Stinson didn’t produce enough milk to satisfy Pansy on the journey up the river, so she had to make her bottles with the river water. However, not only did she survive the trip up the river, she continued living there in Evansville until she was 16, in a houseboat with her siblings Arvin, Paul, Edgar Jr., Billy, Tommy, and Sybil.

Pansy was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with her chocolate bowl full of treats and sodas. She loved sitting on her front porch swing, needlework, making pillows and quilts, paper dolls, stuffed animals, country drives, historical romances, going to Kmart or Walmart, garage sales, and playing rummy. Pansy loved her daytime and nighttime shows: Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, Hee Haw, and The Benny Hill Show.

Pansy Lancaster’s services will be held at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. The prelude will begin at 1:00 p.m., the funeral at 2:00 p.m., followed by the graveside service in Koger Cemetery.

Special Thanks to all the Hospice and Sylvia Thompson Nursing Home staff for taking such good care of Pansy. Gratitude is also given to Chaplin Fred Manning for bringing comfort and peace in a time of sadness.
