Paula Kathryn Hammontree, 91, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home in Grain Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to Wayside Waifs.

Paula K. Hammontree was born November 7, 1926 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Hiram and Edith Perry. She was baptized with her daughter, Fleeta, at a Baptist church in Corpus Christi, TX in 1956. Paula was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Jack Hammontree; daughter, Fleeta M. (Hammontree) Rector; brother, John R. Perry; grandson, Jason A. Hammontree; and granddaughter Jackie L. (Rector) Payne. Paula is survived by her son, Jerry Hammontree and wife Barbara of Lee’s Summit; son, Jack Hammontree and wife Debbie of Oak Grove; son, Bob Hammontree of Grain Valley; brothers, James Perry, David Perry, and Don Perry; sister, Carol J. (Perry) Gorley; granddaughters, Vonda K. (Rector) Doelz, Kimberly A. (Rector) Troutman and Tracy L. (Hammontree) Fenstermaker; 6 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Paula retired from Harmon Industries of Grain Valley in 1984. As a mother and homemaker, Paula was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing special holiday meals for her family.  In times past, she was an avid bowler and participated in the women’s league at the Blue Springs Bowling Alley. She enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show, NASCAR, football and baseball on TV with her son Bob of the home. Paula loved social occasions, 40’s music, singing, dancing and dreamed, as a teen, to be a professional singer.  She loved her family and her dogs!
