Penny Lee Ahumada passed away quietly at home on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Penny was born on August 19, 1948 to Thelma Ilene (Kane) and John William Burke in Independence, Iowa. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Penny grew up in Independence, Iowa and graduated from Independence Jefferson High School in 1966. After graduating, she married and started a family. She later divorced and worked various jobs as a single mother to raise and support her children. She retired from the Medical Records Department at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri. After retiring, Penny enjoyed spending time with her many friends and participating in senior activities at Vesper Hall Senior Center. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Penny married Francisco D. Ahumada on December 19, 1991. Frank was Penny’s true love, and he adored her. They were married for nearly 26 years when Frank passed in August 2017. She missed Frank terribly. Our family takes comfort in knowing that she has now been reunited with Frank and the many loved ones who passed on before her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, infant son, Michael Shawn Cox, and nephew, Christopher Conrad.
