Phillip “Phil” Dean Cooper, 76, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd at Gamber Community Center, 45 E. Independence Ave, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
Phil was a long-time resident of Lee’s Summit and Greenwood, MO. After working at Leeds and car dealerships in the 1960’s, he started his auto repair business in 1972 in downtown Lee’s Summit, MO. Cooper’s Auto Service was owned and operated by Phil and Marilyn Cooper for decades. He loved working on cars, building motors, fishing, and hunting. Phil was a kind and honest man who was taken away from friends and family too soon due to cancer. He was greatly loved.
Phil leaves behind his wife of over 55 years, Marilyn; daughter, Christy Martin & husband Larry; son, Steve Cooper; grandchildren: Nikkole Foster (Jake Foster), Brooke Martin, Trystyn Cooper, and three others; great-granddaughter, Makkena Foster; brother, Gary Cooper; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl M. & La Vera Cooper.
