On Thursday, June 15, 2023 Richard Beck, beloved son to E.J. & Helen Beck, best friend and companion to Vicki Jorgenson, brother to Linda & Stevie, father of Brenton, Trevor, and Tyler, and grandfather to his five grandchildren: Connor, Kenzie, Jeremy, Jackson, and Charlotte, crossed over to the Golden Shore.
Growing up in rural Higginsville, MO., Richard spent his time with friends and family enjoying fishing & hunting, playing baseball, swimming at the Higginsville pool, and working at the family restaurant, Beck’s Café as well as being an avid bowler.
He would later gather experience in several different careers working as a butcher and then carpenter/cabinet maker, until finally beginning his education and starting down the communications technology path. He would work for companies such as Bell Systems, and Sprint, eventually opening his first business, A.S. Technologies.
As time went and his family grew, he wanted to be able to enjoy time together with them and made the decision to purchase a cabin at the Truman branch of the Ozarks at Woodland Shores. Summers were spent with many cousins, Uncle Paul, Aunt Pee Wee, his parents EJ and Helen, his children, Aunt JoAnn and Uncle Gilbert, and Aunt Barbara and Uncle Bobby. Boating, fishing, fresh air, and campfires became a beloved past time for the entire family.
Richard was blessed to be able to enjoy traveling on occasion as well, visiting many destinations inside the U.S. with Vicki his significant other. They were also able to enjoy destinations together such as the Caribbean, and Alaska, which he had a special affinity for.
He lived a full life, and his life has been undeniably full. While there are probably a great many things that he still had a desire to do, he has already accomplished so much. Cultivating great friendships, that became lifelong relationships and raising a loving family certainly top this list.
Now we say farewell to our beloved Richard, and while we will miss him greatly, we know in our hearts that when the time comes we will meet him again. God Bless and God speed Richard, until the day we see you again, rest easy and now you are loved.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23rd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, followed by a graveside burial of ashes at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
