
Robert “Bobby” Dale Thresher, Sr., 65, of Independence, Missouri, peacefully surrendered to lung cancer, surrounded by his closest loved ones on August 22, 2021. There will be a private celebration of life held on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021. Committal services will be held on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 20109 Bus. MO-13, Higginsville, MO 64037.
Bobby was born March 14, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harry and Helen Thresher and was the fourth of six sons. Bobby grew up in Independence, MO, and at the age of 17 enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned home to start his family. Bobby was a skilled carpenter with several other talents however, ended up following in his father’s footsteps where he spent his career as a union bricklayer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, and playing the guitar singing his favorite song, “King of the Road.” Bobby was a proud Papa to his grandchildren and lit up every time he saw them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Helen Thresher and his brother, Donald Thresher.
He is survived by his daughters Kelly Thresher and Kristin (Adam) Miller; son, Robert Thresher Jr. (Little Bobby); grandchildren, Adrienne Looker, Alexis Miller, and Braxton Miller; brothers, Jimmy Thresher, Stanley Thresher, Harry (Deedee) Thresher, and Denny Thresher. He will be remembered by several nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends.
