Robert Edward Lindquist, 93, passed away on August 14, 2022, with his family by his side. Bob was born on March 17, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Lavera (Pigg) Lindquist. He grew up in White River, South Dakota. After his father’s death in 1944, the family moved to Oak Grove, Missouri to be near his mother’s family. After graduating from high school Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his military service he went to work for the Federal Government, eventually with the Department of Defense, Defense Communications Agency. In that capacity he traveled the world extensively. He was also a successful businessman who started his own store selling go-carts, mini-bikes, motorcycles, and other recreational items. Bob and his wife Edna raised their family in Springfield, Virginia. After his retirement they purchased 100 acres in Amissville, Virginia, where they built their home.
Bob was a dedicated and loving family man. He was a loyal friend who nurtured and cherished his relationships and had many life-long friends. He was hardworking and honest which gained him the respect of many people.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Wolford Lindquist, and his son-in-law Robert Johnson. He is survived by his children, Karen Swindell (Wayne), Cheryl Johnson, and Jeffrey Lindquist; four grandchildren, Sean Johnson (Julia), Brandon Johnson (Tiffany), Emilio Lindquist, and Eric Lindquist; two great-grandchildren, Bella Johnson and Wesley Johnson; two brothers, William Lindquist (Elsie) and Raymond Lindquist (Glenda); and two nephews, Charles Lindquist and Joseph Lindquist.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
