Robert Joe (Bob) Duckett departed this life peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters, on December 22, 2016. Born December 6, 1940 in Altus, Oklahoma; he grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and lived most of his adult life in Blue Springs, Missouri. He retired in 2002 after 48 years as a member of the Pipefitters union. He was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Marilynn. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Ivan Duckett and his father Joe Worrell, as well as his brothers Bill Duckett and Don Duckett. He is survived by his wife Marilynn, his daughters; Leslie (Stu) Meador, and Cheryl (David) Laird. He had six grandchildren: Anthony Durbin; Delaney, Cassidy, and Hillary Church; and Quincy and Carson Laird. He also had three great grandchildren, Landon and Gage Durbin-Nedeau and Eliza Jones. He is also survived by his brothers, Dan (Jackie) Duckett, Mike (Cindy) Duckett, Scott (Regina) Worrell, and his sister, Diane (Rick) Worrell. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, granddad, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be remembered with such fondness for his wisdom, quick wit and ornery grin. He worked hard, was gifted with a mechanical aptitude and learned his way around computers like an expert. He loved the Lord and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, in Blue Springs Missouri for over 20 years where he served as a deacon. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the way that the church always stepped in to care for Bob and Marilynn throughout the past few years. He treasured those friendships. One of his greatest joys was the “kids” at church that thought of him like a grandpa. The mantle at his house was always filled with pictures of their smiling faces. “Mr. Bob” loved them so. He was a mentor and friend and loved to share with others. He loved gospel music, cars, never going the same way twice, a good hammer, exploring, watching drag races, and spending time with family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 21 at Harvest Baptist Church, 901 NW 19th Street, Blue Springs, Missouri 64015. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am and the service at 11:00.
