Robert Vern Stanton, 92, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab. Memorial services will be held at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, MO, on Friday, March 29th, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Crossroads Hospice.
Robert was born on January 8, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Harry and Fern (Tunnel) Stanton. He married Mary E. Griggs on March 17, 1946. Robert was funny and quite witty with his one-liners. He loved country & western music and enjoyed fishing.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Christina Renne Stanton; a grandson, Chad Hecke; five sisters; and two brothers.
His survivors include his wife of 73 years, Mary Stanton; son, Mick Stanton (fiancé Cathy Wilsher) of Kansas City; daughter, Pam Osborn (Terry) of Glendale, AZ; son, Alan Stanton of Overland Park, KS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Miriam Hedrick of Lincoln, MO and Linda Walker of Excelsior Springs, MO.
