Rosa L. Hunt

Rosa Leah Hunt, 83, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at her home in Odessa, MO.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5th at the Church of Christ in Oak Grove, MO.

Rosa was born June 13, 1941, in Violet Hill, AR, the daughter of Lee Roy and Mary Hazel (Sellars) Blevins.  When Rosa was a small child, her family moved to Neosho, Missouri.  She enjoyed singing in the high school choir and shouting with the pep club at the Friday night football games.  After high school, Rosa moved to Kansas City and started work at Hallmark Cards. Rosa met and married Hershel (whom she often referred to as “Hershey”) and the two settled in Independence where they began their small family.

Rosa has been a member of the Church of Christ for many decades after being baptized in her 20s. She was a member of the East Independence Church of Christ for many years where she and Hershel formed life-long friendships. Rosa’s longest congregation affiliation is with her church family in Oak Grove, Missouri after the family moved to Odessa, Missouri in 1977. While Rosa’s health often prohibited her attendance, she always wanted to hear news of her Christian brothers and sisters.

Rosa worked in several retail businesses including jewelry stores, dress stores, a donut shop, a deli, and a shoe store. Hershel and Rosa enjoyed many vacation spots across the country as well as RV camping adventures. Rosa found joy in family.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Hershel Hunt of the home; two daughters: Ronda Moore (Chester) of Coweta, OK, and Connie Andrews (Darrell) of Odessa, MO; four granddaughters: Jennifer Stidham (Russell) of Odessa, Nikki Moore of Raymore, MO, Candice Stevens (Shane) of Oak Grove, and Danielle Best (Jarrod) of Oak Grove; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Bowman of Neosho, MO; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Colt Moore.
