Rosalie Waller


Rosalie Waller, 86, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO.

Rosalie was born on April 21, 1938 in Camdenton, MO; daughter of Raymond and Flossie (Ellis) Whitworth. Rosalie was married to Bob Waller for 17 years before his untimely death in 1987. Despite the profound loss, she continued living in their home, maintaining the property with remarkable strength and independence. Rosalie faced every challenge head-on, whether it was mowing the terrace, tending to her beautiful property, or managing household finances.

Rosalie dedicated over 40 years to the Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier before retiring. She was actively involved in multiple organizations, including TOPS, where she participated alongside several of her sisters, and the A.B.W.A. (American Business Women’s Association), where she held various board positions, including President. She received multiple awards, most notably, the Woman of the Year Award. Rosalie was an enthusiastic recruiter for new members and formed long-lasting and cherished friendships through these organizations and her work at the Post Office.

Rosalie’s ability to balance her professional responsibilities with her community service and leadership roles made her a standout figure. Her unwavering resilience and dedication earned her respect and admiration from those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Waller; son, Ricky Kays; 2 brothers: Raymond and Bill; 4 sisters: Veda, Phyllis, Joyce, and Barbara; and 2 stepsons: Stephen and Michael Waller.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Becky (Allen) Carter; step daughter, Lisa (Bobby) Gering; sister, Marietta (Chuck) Rager; sister, Donna (Billy) Moore; sister, Linda Whitworth; 1 grandson, Coy Kays, 2 granddaughters: Amber Eickelmann and Brianna Carter; 8 step grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, Harley Jo Kays; and 8 step great-grandchildren.
