Ruby P. Williams


Ruby Pauline Williams, 92, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri went to be with our Lord Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1:24 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2nd at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time service at the church. Burial will be in the Floral Hills East Cemetery, 25203 E. US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.

 Ruby was born December 16th 1928, in Cabool Mo. She then moved to Holden Mo in 1941 and attended school in both Holden and Knob Noster. In 1957, Ruby and Melvin made Lees Summit Mo their permanent residence. Mel and Ruby owned and operated many businesses throughout their lives including Skyline Drive inn and Mel and Rubys Dairy King. Ruby worked as a rural mail carrier in Lee’s Summit, Super X drugs and Don Kahan Chevrolet were she retired in 1990.  She then returned to work at the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a driving license examiner. Ruby had wonderful memories of wintering in Texas with Melvin every year until 1998. She was a staple in her grandchildren’s lives giving unselfishly of her time and attention. She had many hobbies such as bowling and crocheting.  She also greatly enjoyed gospel and country music shows. She could be found most Saturday nights at the Big Creek show Place listening to live music. Ruby was a fixture at the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit where she enjoyed planning and facilitating many functions.  Ruby was an avid philanthropist and humanitarian choosing to spend all of her free time in service of others.  Ruby served as the chairwoman of Business and Professional Woman, the Joy Club at First Baptist Church, as well as chairing the committee for domestic violence for the ReDiscover Mental Health program.  

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Melvin P Williams; parents: Jesse and Ollie Kile; daughter, Carolyn K. Dryer; and brothers: Delmar, Dennis and Earl Kile.

She is survived by her son-in law Charles Dryer, widower of daughter Carolyn and their family; son, Gary Williams and his family (Grandson Ronald Williams and great grandson Gunner, granddaughter Rowena Williams and Grandson Victor Williams) of Seminole Florida; (Grandson Aaron Dryer (Stephanie) and great grand-children Kadence, Mason, Brecklynn, Ireland, Hudson and Kellan, of  Blue Springs Mo, granddaughter Alicia Hudson (Paul), great-grandchildren Parker and Ethan of Independence Mo, Grandson Terry Thompson (Liz), Michelle Thompson and great-grandson Jesse of Blue Springs Mo., Sisters Margie (Glen) Johnson of Knob Noster Mo and Shirley (Harold) Rogers of Blue Springs, Mo; and sister-in-law Maxine Kile (Dennis) of Greenwood, Mo.  As well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Ruby will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
