Ruth E. Lampman

Ruth Elizabeth Lampman of Blue Springs, MO (formerly Oak Grove, MO 1967-2015) went to her heavenly home on October 24th, 2023 at the age of 84. Ruth was born on July 9th, 1939 to Ray and Ruth (Robinett) Manning in Higginsville, MO. She and her 10 siblings grew up in Higginsville before moving to Corder, MO when Ruth was a junior in high school.

In 1958, Ruth met J.R. Lampman through her brother, Walter. They fell madly in love and married that same year. Over the next 5 years, they welcomed 3 children – Candy, Cassandra, and Robert. Ruth worked at the garment company in Higginsville until the family moved to Oak Grove in 1967. She then worked at Western Electric, DVB, and Patsy B’s Apparel until her retirement in 1999.

Throughout her life, Ruth was the bedrock of her immediate and very large extended family. She spent each day caring and creating for the people she loved. She expressed that love through baking, cooking, sewing, hosting Sunday Lunch, researching her ancestry, and volunteering with her church family. In retirement, she spent her time visiting with friends and family, reading scripture, taking care of her grandchildren, and working on an endless amount of sewing projects. Ruth was a master seamstress and shared her skill by gifting over 40 hand-made afghans and quilts to family and friends for Christmas, birthdays, and births.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, JR Lampman, and her daughter Cassandra Lampman, son-in-law William Hillson, as well as 9 of her siblings: brothers, Roy, Wilburn, Raymond, and Walter Manning, and sisters Sarah Rivers, Goldie Lampton, Susie Petty, Gertrude Petty, and Beneta Belew.

She is survived by her children, Candy L. Hillson and husband Christopher L. Buck (Blue Springs, MO), and Robert R. Lampman (Sibley, MO); granddaughters Rebecca A. Trowbridge (Springfield, MO), Moriah E. Hillson-Baker and husband Brett (Kansas City, MO), and BreAnna F. Buck (Blue Springs, MO); great-grandchildren Grace (Buffalo, MO), Michael, Theodore and Cassandra Trowbridge (Collins, MO); great-great granddaughter, Presley Cadwallader; and her brother Clarence Manning (Carthage, MO).
