Sarah was born October 18, 1920, in Blue Springs, Missouri, the daughter of John H. and Lenora M. (Brown) Shrout.  She lived through many historic events, technological and scientific advances, but the stories she told weren’t about the events or changes.  They were about the people she loved.  She always enjoyed the little things and being around family.  Sarah was a beautiful, hilarious, and tough “good ol’ country woman”.  She had a kind spirit and loved to talk, tell stories, and laugh.  She was the light in any room, and could cheer you up in no time.  Sarah was a member of the Christian Church and the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed reading and sewing.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn in 1991; three brothers: Calvin Shrout, Jim Shrout, and Bob Shrout; and two sisters: Melba Ford and Lenora Bainbridge.

Her survivors include her son, Ed Story (Karen) of Oak Grove; her daughter, Sandy Byers (Ron) of Blue Springs; sister, Clara Bozarth of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren: Mindy Smith (Jared), Travis Story (Lori), Brad Byers (Janalee), Kevin Clemmons, Kipp Clemmons (Megan), and Sarah Byers (Joe Bauch); eight great-grandchildren: Whitney, Mia, Ashley, Gabby, Angelina, Kaden, Michael, Sam, and twins on the way.
