Sylvia Mae Jeffries received her Diploma of Eternal Life on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Peggy M. Bevelot & Ken West, Oak Grove, MO at the tender age of 96 years, surrounded by loving family members.
Mae was born in Miller County MO, March 30, 1914 to parents Willie David & Margaret Elva Sloan Pendleton. She became the bride of Robert Earl Jeffries on June 4, 1933. He passed away on March 29, 1980.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, her beloved son, Kenneth D. Jeffries, grandson, David E. Mullenax and two very special friends, Randall Hill and Jim Smith.
She enjoyed a very close relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended Eastside Assembly of God church and Hosanna Chapel. Mrs. Jeffries was employed by Tweedies Shoe Factory, Jefferson City, MO for 29 years prior to moving to Kansas City in 1961. She was a member of the garment industry union. ILGWU, and was employed by Gay Gibson, aka McDonald Enterprises as a seamstress until her retirement in 1979.
Her earthly presence and loving kindness will be greatly missed by her daughter, Peggy; her ‘other kids’, Ron & Sue Hill, grandchildren, Karl (Linda) Suggs, Suzi (Butch) Mix, Tulsa, OK, Debbie Jeffries, Plano, TX, Kenny Jeffries, Siloam, AR, Linda McCullom, Kansas City, Lori Jeffries, Tulsa, OK, Norma Dian (Patrick) Bruns, Houston, TX, Dale (Dottie) Jeffries, Gloucester, MA, Butch (Sherry) Mullenax, Lawson, MO, Josie (David) Jones, Warsaw, MO, and Mike Jeffries, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 48 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to Integrity Home Health and caregivers, Kristl Stansbury and Lorene Martin, my wonderful daughters, and as well as the great staff/nurses and Chaplain of Kansas City Hospice, and Dr. Jennifer Patterson, You’ve all made her journey much easier.
We’ll have a Celebration of Life at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011. A gathering of her loved ones will be held preceding the service at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Her grandson, Rev. Michael Jeffries, will officiate. A private Graveside service and burial will be held in Owensville, MO.
