Ted W. Ivey, 73, of Independence, Missouri left this world unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. Ted was born on September 23, 1941 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Marion Ivey and Lucille Penix Ivey.
Ted was an, “eyewitness” to American history in 1957, while attending Central High School in Little Rock, served in the Air National Guard, worked 23 years at the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and retired in 1999 from Mohawk Manufacturing & Supply.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Bobby Ivey of Independence MO, his son Ted Ivey II and daughter-in-law Kristen Ivey, 4 grandchildren, Zach Ivey of Lee’s Summit, MO, Alexandra “Alex” Ivey of Independence, MO, Lauren Lambertz of Greenwood, MO and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lambertz of Greenwood, MO.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Ivey and Mary “Lucille” Perry of Little Rock, AR, and in-laws, Joe and Dora Wilson.
Most important to him was his wife, son, grandchildren, extended family and friends – his legacy of love, intelligence and humor will live on through them.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Salem Funeral Home, 1823 N Blue Mills Rd, Independence, MO 64058.
