Theresa “Terry” (Norton) Scarberry, age 81, peacefully went to her eternal rest on September 16, 2023, in Oak Grove, Missouri. She was born November 16, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles Thomas and Mable Maxine (Anders) Norton. She was raised with love from her Aunt Mary Alice Anders “Nanny” and loved by her Aunt Rosie as well. Brothers: Terry Norton, Phillip Norton, Tom Norton and Rick Norton. Sister: Kathy Lausche.
She married Larry Lee Crownover in 1957, marriage ended by divorce in 1978. Together they had 4 children, Gary, Rina, Bryan and Tracy. Theresa found special love and married James Harold Fritz in 1981, unfortunately he passed away unexpectedly the same year. In 1983, Theresa married Veteran Herbert C. Scarberry, traveled with him and cared for him until his sickness took him in 2015.
Theresa was a homemaker for her children, she worked at Kansas Farm Bureau, and was a wonderful grandma and great grandma and good friend to many. She enjoyed reading, cooking, camping, traveling, and being with friends, family, and her dogs.
Survivors include her children: Gary (Lori) Crownover, Marysville KS; Bryan (Myra) Crownover, Wichita KS; Tracy (Jeff) Geisler, Leonardville KS. Twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Stepchildren: Dan (Sharon) Scarberry, Emporia KS; Herbert (Gloria) Scarberry, Hartford KS; Sue (Billy) Baysinger, Hartford KS; Virgina (Lester) Parrish, Manvel Tx; Bonnie (John) Dold, Emporia. Special lifelong friends: Terry Wilson, Lee Summit MO; Umscheid Family, Manhattan KS; Starr Family, Manhattan KS; Kyle and Shannon Ray Family, Oak Grove MO. Special Pets: Ricky and Nani.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Norton; brother, Charles Norton; daughter, Rina Beard; her husband Herbert C. Scarberry Sr.; stepdaughter, Linda Miller; and lifelong friends George and Theresa Ray.
Services will be held on Friday, September 29th at the Church of the Resurrection, 601 NW Jefferson St., Blue Springs, MO 64014, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. A memorial has been set up in Theresa’s name at Village Hospice, 400 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
