Thomas James Skaggs, 75, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Private family burial in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Tom was born August 16, 1945 in Redbud, Illinois, the son of Thomas L. and Mary (Worley) Skaggs. He was an Army Veteran and then worked at Armco Steel before becoming a self-employed contractor. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, and lottery tickets. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. His eyes lit up when seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom’s survivors include two children: Melissa Martin (Jason) and Steven Skaggs (Cristy), both of Oak Grove; six grandchildren: Keelia Martin (John), Kyle Martin (Alyssa), Bailee Martin, Ali Cherner (Daniel), Brett Skaggs (Mattie), and Ryan Skaggs; two great-grandchildren: Carson and Kendyll; three brothers: Andrew Skaggs (Sherri) of Alton, IL, Wayne Skaggs (Diane) of Mount Vernon, IL, and Timmy Skaggs of Sandoval, IL; one sister, Betty Williams (Robin); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maryann Crayne.
