Thomas “Tommy” L. Conrow


Thomas L. Conrow (Tommy) of Independence, MO passed away on November 28, 2024 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Tommy was born on June 21,1932 in Independence, MO.  He was a lifelong Independence resident.

 He married Barbara Zimmerman in 1951 and together they had three sons and a daughter. Tommy graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1950. He played football, basketball and ran track. Tommy was a member of the Chrisman Hall Fame and followed Chrisman sports his entire life. Once a Bear Always a Bear! He worked for the Vendo Company, Allis Chalmers and retired from the City of Independence. Tommy coached in the Kiwanis League for 25 years. Barbara and Tommy began square dancing in 1977 with the Harmony Dancers. He was a Chiefs, Royals and Missouri Tigers fan. Tommy attended every grandchild activity that he could. He was either coaching or watching! He loved his family dearly.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lorraine Conrow, a brother Merle Conrow, sisters Doris Cole, Ann Conard, Helen Major and Carol Conrow.  Tommy is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Tom (Janet), Gary (Cassie), John (Terri) a daughter Julia Miles (Pat) and two sisters Sandra Bellew and Janice Strever. Tommy was blessed with nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Centerpoint Medical Center for the care and compassion they provided Tommy.
