Tommy E. Cargill

Tommy Eugene Cargill passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 60. Visitation will be 11:00-a.m.-12:00p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens Cemetery. His kind heart and infectious smile will undoubtedly carry-on.

Tommy was born on December 3, 1959 to Kenneth Eugene and Lavada Ileane Cargill in Malvern, Arkansas. He was blessed to have his Aunt LaFaye Crotts and his Uncle Theodore Crotts as his second parents, who treated him like their own. Before starting his own family, Tommy was baptized in Arkansas. Later, he was blessed with two girls, Jennifer and Rachel, who was Tommy’s greatest pride and joy. He loved being outdoors; fishing, hunting with his girls and grandkids, hanging “down south” at his second home, cheering on his grandkids at their ballgames, mowing, and traveling with his kids and grandkids. And even the casino from time to time. Tommy married Linda Cargill on June 21, 2008 and gained two daughters, Erin Shinabargar and Melissa Shinabargar.

On November 19, 2013 after being very ill, he received a lifesaving kidney and liver transplant. The extra seven years that he was able to spend with his family is what he cherished most.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle Crotts, mother to his two daughters, Robin Cargill, and one grandchild.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Linda Cargill, children Jennifer Brock, Rachel Johnston (Jon), Erin Shinabargar (Miles), and Melissa Shinabargar (Brandon), 10 adoring grandchildren, sisters Linda Briggs (Gary), Patti Natto (Jim), Darlene Richardson (Brad), and brother-in-law’s Rick Burgess (Dee) and Larry Burgess (Shelia).
