Walter R. Young


Walter Ray Young, 55, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23rd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Walter was born June 23, 1967, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Noble and Fay (Tener) Young.  He married Karen J. Goans on September 16, 1999.  Walter was a truck driver for 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife and taking family vacations with as many kids as possible. He recently picked up an interest of woodworking. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, brother Noble, sister Patty, and brother Tom.

His survivors include his wife of 23 years, Karen Young; his sons: Ricky Young, Micky Young, Bailey Young, Ethan Young, Logun Chipley, Cody Abel (Emily), Collin Vasko, and Riley Weisz; his daughters: Piper Young, Kathleen Davis-Combs (Luciano), and Danica Hunt; 7 grandkids: April, Haley, Bentlee, Emelinn, Deklyn, Deighan, Lilith, and 1 more on the way.

  1. I still can’t believe this happened… our family lost a good man and heaven has gained a great man..I wish I could be there for the service.. well there be online service as well by chance? This is his cousin Matt brown, Loretta tener was my grandmother and Debbie is my mom.. if there is anything I can do to help yall through these hard times please don’t hesitate to ask…

  2. I am sorry for your loss. I knew Walter from work. He was a really nice guy and a pleasure to talk. My condolences to his family and friends.

  3. Karen I just found out that Walter had passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. You and all the kids are in my prayers and always in my Heart. Walter had a good heart. I don’t think that there was anyone that didn’t like Walter. I know that he will be greatly missed by everyone.
