
William Bradley “Brad” Dametz, 63, of Bates City, MO, passed away on November 7, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 1, 2023, at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove MO from 1-2 pm and followed by a 3pm graveside service with military honors at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Brad Dametz Memorial Fund. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be mailed to Royer Funeral Home; 101 SE 15th St., Oak Grove, MO in Brad’s memory. Brad was born on September 5, 1960, to William A. Dametz & Lydia L. Hinton (Hammer) in Marshall, MO. Brad was a carpenter by trade. He known for being an avid fly fisherman, hunter, and Chiefs fan. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1978 and then went to Carpentry/Masonry School in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO with a degree in Carpentry. He enlisted in the Army in August of 1978 and was honorably discharged in December of 1985; where he was awarded an army service ribbon, overseas service ribbon, good conduct medal, expert badge with a hand grenade bar, and sharpshooter badge with M16 rifle bar. Throughout his life, Brad touched the hearts of those around him. He will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone at any time and for never wanting to go a day without working. At the time of Brad’s passing, he was head of housekeeping at the Truck Stop in Oak Grove, MO where he was employed for 19 years.
Brad is survived by his sisters; Karen Kaye Southard, Vicki Thornton (Reuben), & Shirley Vann (Murphy), numerous nieces and nephews and greats. He was preceded in death by his parents; William A. Dametz & Lydia L. Hinton (Hammer), his brother; Richard W. Barker, sister; Peggy L. Crane, grandparents, and numerous aunts & uncles and his great niece; Bailey C. Luttrell.
