William “Bill” D. Wills, 78, of Odessa, MO, also known as Po-Po, left this earth on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd, with memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, MO. Bill was born November 3, 1941 to Louise & Ely Leach in Independence, MO. He was adopted by Hazel & Tom Wills. Bill graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1959. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from July 1959, until October 1962. Bill was employed at Lake City and retired in 2001. He had many friends and will be missed by his family and all who loved him. Bill had numerous hobbies and enjoyed entertaining and barbecuing at his 4th of July parties. He never hesitated to help others and was appreciated for his generosity.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beth Rice, and brothers Mike and Jim Leach.
He is survived by his friend of 60 years: Donna Brown and family, Troy (Chrissy), Traci (Emery); Donna’s grandchildren: Alyson, McKenzie and Brady; son, David Wills; 9 sisters, including twins: Joan Davis and Judi Hunsinger, Sharon Nelson, Patty Ross; sister-in-law Helen Leach; 4 brothers including Patrick Leach.
