
Zane Martin Barr, 22 of Independence, MO passed away February 13, 2022.
Visitation 12:00-2:00 p.m Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial at New Salem Cemetery.
Zane was born February 2, 2000 in Independence, MO to John & Wendy (Coats) Barr. Zane was a gifted athlete. He knew sports and statistics of players. He played baseball from little league to Fort Osage High. Pitching was his favorite. Then on to junior college at JCCC. He transferred to Lipscomb University in Nashville which was his dream to play D1 baseball. He also grew up playing hockey- lots of hotels and knee hockey tournaments. Also football and basketball. He met so many good families along the way and enjoyed broadcasting high school games for his favorite class. He was a friend person and liked to have conversation with anyone he met. He loved his family and his brothers Van and Derby were his best friends. He adopted a husky dog Fallon while in Nashville and took her everywhere. His favorite times were holidays with the big family gatherings. He was a movie buff, Star Wars fan and animal lover. He was a life fan of the underdog- the ones with a story of hardships but came out better person. While he was battling health problems, he still stayed positive and strong. He will be missed by so many lives he touched. His family and friends remember his smile, energy and big heart. He is now in the Lord’s care. Isaiah 53:5
Zane is survived by his parents John & Wendy Barr; brothers: Van and Derby Barr; maternal grandparents: Fred & Regina Coats; paternal grandmother: Linda Barr; uncles: Mark Coats, Kirk Coats & wife Deana, Bryan Barr; cousins: Chance, Derrick, Stephaney; great Aunt & Uncle: Marge & Philip Foster.
