Alice Jane Turner Affolter Carter, 85, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Oxford Glenn Memory Care Center in Owasso. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. preceding the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Grain Valley, MO.
Alice was born February 19, 1931 in Oak Grove, Missouri, the daughter of James L. and Lena (Todd) Turner. She graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1948. Alice was a member of First Baptist Church in Grain Valley. She was a long time resident of Grain Valley beginning in 1966 after her husband Dean Affolter retired from the US Navy and her family returned from living in Japan for 4 years.
Alice was preceded in death by two husbands, Dean Affolter in 1982, and Bill Carter in 2012; two brothers, Bill and Kenneth Turner; and one sister, Betty Turner.
Her survivors include her son, Ronald Affolter & wife Janice of Columbia, MO; daughter, Brenda Coolidge & husband Richard of Owasso, OK; stepdaughter, Darlene Merritt of Grain Valley, MO; stepdaughter, Nancy Adams of Harrisonville, MO; stepson, Terry Carter & wife Lisa of Lewisburg, TN; stepdaughter, Deborah Payne & husband Ken of Port Richey, FL; stepdaughter, Paula Andrews & husband Gregory of Peculiar, MO; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Butkovich.
