Alice Ruth Sanders, 53 of Independence, MO passed away October 3, 2020. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial at New Salem Cemetery.
Alice was born April 16, 1967 in Independence, MO to Larry M & Lucille R (Savage) Shields. She fought a courageous battle with M.S. Alice loved country concerts, watching soap operas. Alice enjoyed reading romance novels, spending time with her family and friends. She loved to go boating and swimming. Alice graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1985. She loved being a mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff at Redwood of Independence for their love and care over the last 15 years.
Alice was preceded in death by her father: Larry Shields.
Alice is survived by her mother: Lucille Savage of Grandview, MO; 3 sons: Sean Sanders of Garden City, MO, David Sanders of Houma, LA, Chris Sanders of Garden City, MO; 1 sister: Denise Murphy (Everett) of Blue Springs, MO; 2 brothers: Brian Shields (Kathy) of Independence, MO, Scott Shields of Independence, MO; 3 granddaughters: Kierstin Sanders, Makena Sanders, Madison Sanders and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
