Arnold “Rick” D. Young, 73, of Independence, MO passed away January 11, 2020. Burial will be in Stroud, OK at a later date.

Rick was born May 25, 1946 in Richmond CA to James L & Lela (Swan) Young. He was known by many as “Rick” or “Red” with a contagious laughter that started from his toes. A lifelong fan of the actor John Wayne, he always had the channel set to his favorite westerns.

Rick is survived by his wife Patricia (Dawson) Young; children: Jeffrey Speight, Susan Young, Nancy Daiprai, Karen Brandon, Nora “Yvonne” Golston, Betty Joshua, Glennis Wilson, Galendus Moseley, Deric Harrell, Andre Harrell, Kiela Harrell and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents: James & Lela Young, siblings: Patricia Riley-Martin and James “Leon” Young; daughter: Nicole “Nicki” Harrell.

Rick will be deeply missed by family and friends. May he rest in peace.

God called your name so softly

That only you could hear.

And no one heard the footsteps

Of angels drawing near.

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.
