Art was born in Elk City, OK the son of Arthur Alvis Russell on October 12, 1923.  He grew up and attended school there.  Art met and married his sweetheart, Mary Ethel Jeans on December 4, 1946. Four days later he left to go overseas to serve his country in Japan for the United States Army.

 From their love came 2 daughters Marsha Skinner of Independence, MO and Lora Wilson of Castle Rock, CO.  One granddaughter, 3 grandsons, 5 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
