
Brian Evan Garvin, 58, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th at South Summit Christian Church, 1121 S.W. Hook Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or KC Pet Project.
Brian was born on April 4, 1960 in Kansas City, MO, son of Ralph and Mavis (Coffman) Garvin. He attended the Hickman Mills School District, graduating in 1978. He had a long career as a restaurant manager working for McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn, Denny’s and Waids. He most recently worked at 7th Street Casino. Brian had a real thirst for knowledge and he always seemed to know a lot about a wide range of topics. His favorite pastimes were watching sports, fishing, socializing with friends and family and an occasional visit to the Casino. In remembrance of Brian’s passion for sports the family asks that you wear attire from his favorite sports team. Anyone wishing to speak and share memories of Brian is welcome to do so and would be greatly appreciated. Brian always felt strongly about organ donation and as a donor he would want you to consider the gift of life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mavis Garvin.
His survivors include his wife, Carla Garvin of the home; father, Ralph Garvin Sr. of Tucson, AZ; brother, Ralph Garvin Jr. (Brenda) of Lee’s Summit, MO; sister, Becky Treece (John) of Tucson, AZ; best friend, Tamara Waggerman (Gary) of Kansas City, MO; mother-in-law, Arlene Shaffer of Topeka, KS; 5 brother-in-law’s; 4 sister-in-law’s; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and extended family.
