Burnice Ray Yates, 71, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burnice was born on December 8, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Ernest E. and Lillie M. (Nickelson) Bourquin. She married Robert S. Yates in December 1957 and he preceded her in death in July 2006.
Burnice was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ed Bourquin; and a sister, Ola Mae Monico.
Her survivors include three sons: Rick Yates & his wife, Betty, Victor Yates, Robert Yates & his girlfriend, Kim Foster, all of Buckner, MO; one daughter, Annette Nelson & her husband, Jason, of Centerview, MO; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers: Bobbie Boker, Ernest Bert Bourquin, Charlie Bourquin, Howard Bourquin & Johnny Bourquin; and one sister, Lois Reynolds.
