Carl Eugene “Gene” Roberts, 76, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully June 22, 2019 at home with his wife by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on July 13th at the home of Gene & Eleanor Roberts.
Gene was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 10, 1942, to Frank and Gladys Roberts. He went in the Navy as a young man and served in the Vietnam War. In 2001, Gene had the great honor of becoming a Master Mason. He was a talented fork-lift mechanic until he retired I 2014. Despite the dirty nature of being a mechanic, Gene was known to always dress to the nines. He will be remembered as someone who loved many things: his family and friends, laughing and making jokes, and anything fast: fast cars, fast motorcycles, and even driving fast. Some of Gene’s favorite hobbies were to watch movies, play golf, and watch the Kansas City Royals play (he didn’t miss a 2019 game on TV).
Gene is survived by his wife, Eleanor Roberts; his children: Dena Brown, Michael Sadey, and Scott Roberts; his grandchildren: Janessa Gleaton, Jakob Sadey, Rebekah Sadey, Jordan Acker, and Gage Roberts; and his great-grandchildren: Phoenix Gleaton and Emerson Eugene Gleaton.
