Carrolee Robinson


Carrolee Robinson, 93, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020.  Private family graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14th in Oak Grove Cemetery. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Oak Grove School District Education Foundation.

Carrolee was born March 16, 1927 in Reedley, CA, the daughter of James Richard  Jr. and Agnes (Dyer) Clark.  She graduated from Buckner High School in Missouri.  She married William Lee Robinson on August 14, 1948 and lived her life in Oak Grove, MO. They had two children, Vickie and Michael.

She earned a teaching certificate from Warrensburg Teacher College and taught grades 1 to 8 at Oakland School, a one-room schoolhouse near Buckner, MO.  She then became a 1st grade teacher for the Oak Grove School District.  She left teaching and went to work for the US Postal Service in Oak Grove as a Postal Clerk.  In 1979, she was sworn in as Postmaster and retired from there after 35 years of service. Carrolee’s life was centered around her family and received great joy from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She started her favorite family tradition, The Annual Robinson Christmas Shrimp Dinner, in 1962 and it still continues after 57 years.  She loved to travel, was an avid reader, a great seamstress, and a talented artist with watercolors. She was a sports fan and closely followed the Royals, Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers and Lakers.   She looked forward to her weekly Thursday luncheons with her family and friends and enjoyed time spent with her Bridge Club.   In the last years, she valued her close friend, companion and caregiver, Sara Neeley.  Her constant and faithful companion Barley, her beloved goldendoodle, was always at her side.

She was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and Beta Sigma Phi.

Carrolee was preceded in death by her husband, William Robinson, her mother, her father, her stepmother, Bettie Clark and her sister, Jean Bliss.

She is survived by her  children, Vickie Robinett  (Ron) of Oak Grove, MO and Mike Robinson (Lisa) of Rogers, AR;  Grandchildren:  Carrie Steuber (Joe) of Columbia, MO,  Garon Robinett (Anita) of Lee’s Summit, MO,  Brandon Robinett (Annie) of Las Vegas, NV,  Stuart Robinson (Keely) of Philadelphia, PA, Kate Dodson (Tyler) of Rogers, AR, Drew Robinson (Gipsye) of Rogers, AR ; Great Grandchildren: Madi, Maci, Hudson, Patton, Graham, Emma, Kai, and Shepherd;  sister, Barbara Barkus of Oak Grove, MO;  brother, Terry Clark of Clayton, NC; and nine nieces and nephews.
