Charles B. “Chuck” Wittig


Charles B. “Chuck” Wittig, 71, Oak Grove, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 at Centerpoint Hospital.  Charles was born Dec. 18, 1953 to Oscar and Doris Wittig.  He graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1972, and later attended Metropolitan Community Colleges, earning an Associate’s degree in industrial technology.  He was employed by Amada of America for 26 years as a regional service engineer, and previously worked for Marion Laboratories.

He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and a NRA firearm safety instructor.  He was an avid hunter and sport shooter, and belonged to the Pioneer Gun Club and the Missouri Shooters Alliance.   He was also a licensed ham radio operator and a licensed General Mobile Radio Service operator.

He was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and a Warrior in the Tribe of Micosay, the local Scouting honor camping society.  He served Scouting as a Den leader for Pack 616, and as an assistant scoutmaster and committee member for Troop 603 of Blue Springs, and Troop 266 in Oak Grove.  He also taught firearm safety for Scouts and adult leaders.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith (Lakin) and Melanie (Nussbaum).  He is survived by his wife Sandra of the home, a son, Bryan Scott Wittig of Buckner; a sister Susan (Tony) Mordente of Bel Air, Maryland; a brother Russell Wittig of Oak Grove; two grandchildren, Justin Wittig and Adam Wittig of Windsor, MO, and a great-granddaughter, Caroline.

Services held at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, MO, Friday, September 26, 2025 with visitation from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, and service at 6:30pm.
