
Charles Leroy Largent, 78, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home in Independence, Missouri. Services will be held on Thursday, October 12th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by Masonic Funeral Rites at 11:00 a.m.
Charles was born May 17, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Otis Sherwood and Mable (Campbell) Largent. He married Barbara Jean Nutt on June 12, 1971. Charles served in the U.S. Army for about 3 years, and was stationed in Germany for a year and half. He lived in Vandalia, MO, for a time. Afterwards, Charles settled in Kansas City area, where he worked as a lineman for the Power and Light Companies. He enjoyed reading, was an avid hunter, and went on many hunting trips.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tommy Largent; a grandson, Jason; and two brothers: Earl Largent and J.R. Largent.
His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Largent of the home; a son, Dennis Largent (Lisa) of Boise, ID; two stepsons: Mike Johnson (Casandria) of Junction City, KS, and Dennis Johnson of Nacogdoches, TX; two daughters: Rose LaRochelle (Phil) of Sturgeon, Alberta, Canada, and Mychelle Thomas of Independence; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Otis Largent of Independence and Gene Largent (Cathy) of Vandalia, MO; four sisters: Virginia Howdeshell and Mary Helen Eskew of Vandalia, Barbara Hawkinson (Marion) of Farber, MO, and Dorothy Largent of Kingdom City, MO; three brothers-in-law: Eddie Nutt (Audie) of Sturgeon, MO, David Nutt (Mary Lou) of Frankford, MO, and Carl Nutt (Brenda) of Vandalia; five sisters-in-law: Pat Largent of Independence, Beverly Largent of Vandalia, Mary Wheelan (Bob) of Quincy, IL, Linda Epperson of New London, MO, and Diane Johnson (Bill) of Mexico, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
