Charles “Chuck” Truman Uchtman departed this life on October 18, 2021, from his home in Harrisonville, MO.  Chuck was born in Conway Springs, Kansas, on April 11, 1933.  The family lived there until moving to Ava, Missouri, in 1943 where he met Marilyn Hunt.  They married and had four children while living in the Kansas City, Missouri, area.  He moved his family to Grain Valley, MO, where his love for the outdoors flourished as he hunted, fished, and took care of animals, especially his dogs, etc.  In 1966, he married Leona (DeFilippo) Griffin and moved to Tarsney Lakes, MO, where his adventures continued.

Chuck was a foreman in various manufacturing companies before getting his electrical license and starting his own electrical contracting business, Chuck’s Electric.  He was involved as a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff Department and local government in Tarsney Lakes.

Chuck learned to play the guitar as a kid in Ava, which became one of his passions as he was an avid guitarist throughout his life, playing with various bands and groups.  He enjoyed public jam sessions but could also be found in his own living room as he played for his and his family’s entertainment.  He played in various church worship bands and enjoyed his time at River of Life Church in Kingsville, MO.

  4. I was fortunate enough to know & respect Chuck Utchman for over 50 years. He was a Sheriff at Tarsney Lakes when I was just a youngster, & I’m 62 years old now, & still a resident & former Tarsney Lakes neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all. Until we meet again Chuck, in the sweet by & by!
