Charley R. Bell, 93, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital of Blue Springs. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 24th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the Blue Springs Care Center Activities Fund or the First Baptists Church of Grain Valley.
Charley was born on December 5, 1912 on the family farm outside East Lynne, MO, the son of Peter & Louella (Long) Bell. He grew up in Cass County and was a farmer until 1961. He married Esther L. Siemon in 1942.
After leaving the farm life, he and his wife moved to Kansas City where he was employed by National Belles Hess for several years. He retired from the Raytown School District, having worked as a custodian. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Grain Valley.
Mr. Bell has been a resident of the Blue Springs Care Center for the past 3 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, a daughter: Gayla in 1968, and his wife Esther in 1995.
His survivors include his son: Charles E. Bell & wife Judy of Blue Springs; Grandchildren Jonathan Bell & wife Suzanne of Oak Grove, Jeremy Bell of Independence, MO, Cheri Latting & husband Steve of Independence, and Mary Ann Belvins of Blue Springs; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
