Charlotte Lorraine Peters, 94, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at The Groves nursing home, Independence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18th at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Charlotte was born April 11, 1924 in Thurmont, Maryland to Maurice & Mary (Eyler) Weller. She married V. Kenneth Peters in 1942. She was a housewife and also taught Sunday School at the Waldo Baptist Church in Independence. Together, Charlotte and Kenneth, lovingly raised eight children bringing them up in a Christian home. Her husband passed away in 1969. She moved to Utah in 1982. She met and married Ray Ketterer in 1985. He passed away in 2010. She returned to Missouri to be close to her children.
She is survived by two sons, Gene Peters (Elaine) of MO and Robert Peters (Lisa) of MO; six daughters, Darleen Knapp (Tom) of MO, Linda Wilson (Russ) of MO, Sharon Vandaveer of AZ, Margaret Pontalion (Mark) of KS, Annette Kaushal of KS and Robin Usher of KS; two brothers, Leo Weller (Shirley) of NC and Rowland Weller (Pat) of MD; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Peters; and a son-in-law, Dave Vandaveer.
