Clifford L. Marriott

Clifford Lee Marriott, age 79, of Independence, Missouri, passed from this world Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri.  He was born on May 31, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Clifford Denzel and Zelma Geraldine (Stout) Marriott.

Cliff, as he was known to friends and family, soon moved and spent his childhood and young adult years in and around Stover, Missouri.  He graduated from Stover High School and was the owner of his own service station at one point.   He loved cars of all sorts, which included racing them.  Cliff returned to the Kansas City area eventually and there met the love of his life, Mary, and her two young boys.  They were soon married, and the boys adopted, so that they all would share his last name.  Cliff worked as a machinist for Schroer Manufacturing Company for most of his adult life.  Cliff spent many years as a leader in Boy Scouts, helping to bring his two sons up to being Eagle Scouts, as well as helping many other young boys to become better men as well.  Cliff spent many summers at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, not only as a leader in his sons’ troop, but also as a campsite counselor.  With his beard, green scouting clothing, walking stick, and pipe; Cliff was often seen walking down the trails and could easily have been mistaken for a leprechaun.  Cliff was a proud member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.  In his later years, Cliff loved to spend time with his wife, going on trips around the country with her and making memories that they could share with friends and family.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Louise Marriott; his two sons, Brian and Mickey; six grandchildren, Alexis, Blake, Dominic, Mercedes, Declan, and Liam; and four grandchildren, Blair, Charlotte, Harvey, and Oliver.
