Daniel M. Champ


Daniel Marion Champ, 50, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on December 17, 2025 in his home, surrounded by his family. Born on June 1, 1975, to Peggy and Daniel Champ Sr., in Independence, Missouri. Daniel graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. He was a hardworking and devoted man who took pride in his work and in the brotherhood of his union. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Carpenters Local 1127. He spent much of his time working with cars and trucks, enjoyed shooting pool and participating in pool leagues, and spending time with family and friends. Daniel was never without a smile, and joke and his hearty laugh. 

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Champ Sr and his sister, Charity Champ.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Peggy Champ; his life partner, Stephanie Everley; his three children Kayla Todd (Isaac), Breanna Graves (Wyatt), and Riley Champ; his grandson, Layton; brothers Thomas Reed and Michael Reed (Brie and family) and niece and nephews Kimberly Hitch, Allen Hitch, and Steven Hitch. He also left behind many friends and family who love and miss him dearly. 

There will be a celebration of life honoring Daniel at New Hope Baptist Church on January 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Flowers and cards for the family may be sent to 18000 East Lexington Rd Independence, MO 64058.

  1. I am saddened by this. Daniel as you say, always had a smile. He was a close friend. Played pool at my bar. He was family. Such a kind person. We lost touch after my husband passed. I will always remember him for his jokes and fun spirit. Prayers for his family.
