Darrell “Pogo” Butler


Darrell “Pogo” Butler, 62, passed away at his home on the 7th of September 2020 in Independence, Missouri. He was the husband of Lori Butler. They shared 30 years of marriage together. Darrell was born in Kansas City Missouri; he was the son of Ernest and Sharron Butler. Darrell graduated from Fort Osage High School. He was an experienced welder and worked as a metal fabricator for many years. Darrell enjoyed many hobbies. He took interest in sci-fi novels, outer space documentaries, leather working and playing with his grandchildren. He was friendly and outgoing and very easy to carry conversation with for hours. Darrell will always be remembered for his love of his dear cats and his pristine black cowboy hat.   

He is survived by his wife Lori Butler; sons: Matthew Butler and wife Sarah, Thomas Butler and fiancé Roxanne; grandchildren Coralee and Ezra Butler; brother: Steve Butler; half-brothers: Brent Butler, Shawn Butler; plus many other loving family members and friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father Ernest Butler; mother Sharron Butler and brother, Jeff Butler.

A Remembrance Day will be announced at a later date due to current Covid-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a mental health organization of your choice. Condolences for the family may be left on this website or sent to the funeral home.

  1. I’m sorry to hear of his passing. We were good friends in high school but lost touch when I went away to Mizzou. I would look through phone books whenever I was visiting my parents in Buckner, but never found a listing for him.
    I am glad he found love and had a good life.
