Darrell Wayne Wilson Sr. passed away Friday July 18, 2014 in Oak Grove, Missouri. He was born to Orville L. and Ruth (White) Wilson on June 2, 1952 in Kansas City, MO. He was raised in Lee’s Summit, Mo and attended school there. He worked most of his life in the greater Kansas City area as an auto body, and frame man. He even received awards for old cars that he had helped restore.
Darrell was very active in the LSBA and LSPPSA with his children and even coached his granddaughter one year. He was an active hobbyist of making black powder guns, long rifles and very good at it. He also was a great craftsman of leather. He made leather tooled holsters for reenactments and such.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, and his sister Cherlesa Robinette.
He leaves behind five children, Melissa Wilson and Tanya Chamberlain of Lee’s Summit, MO.; Nichole Rushing (Shannon) of Waxhaw, NC.; Darrell W. Wilson Jr. of Scotsdale, AZ.; and Ted Wilson of Lee’s Summit, MO. He also leaves four grandchildren, Brittany Foster, Tyler Chamberlain, and Brady and Nolan Rushing. Left behind also is his fiancé’ Debbie Dorton, her children Kimberly Bennett of Independence, MO.; Jami Graybill of Grain Valley, Mo.; and Jodi Crawford of Buckner, MO. The grandchildren of his soon to be step-daughters are Amyah, Ayden and Tucker. His siblings that will miss him are Theresa Ray (George) of Oak Grove, MO.; Patty Branson (Bob) of Harrisonville, MO.; and Terry Wilson (Christine) of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22nd at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
