David F. Bettis


David Franklin Bettis, 77, of Blue Springs, Missouri lost his battle with cancer on August 13th, 2021 at his home. A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday September 7th, 2021 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Military honors following the service at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth Kansas.

David was born May 12th, 1944 in Bristow, Oklahoma. He was the son of Raymond Bettis and Wilma (Billie) Young. He grew up and attended Gower high School where he graduated with honors in 1962. He then joined the US Navy. He served in Vietnam from 1964 to 1970 where he received three medals. One with a bronze star. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart Brenda McCarty in 1966.  David retired from Yellow Freight after 30 years of employment. David loved life and people to the fullest. He loved fishing and hunting but his biggest love was his hot rods. His 53 Chevy Bel Air and 65 Falcon were his pride and joy. Buying the Chevy Bel Air in 1981 and rebuilding it from the ground up with his buddies. He loved going to car shows and showing it off but what he loved the most was getting behind the wheel and giving her hell. David touched a lot of lives in his 77 years and was always the life of the party. His smile and laugh was contagious. He had a voice like an angel and loved to sing his country music.  David will be greatly missed but is with Jesus who welcomed him with open arms. He will live in the house of the Lord forever and will always be in our hearts. 

David is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Don Crawford of Roscoe Missouri; sister, Janice Jennings of St. Joe, Missouri; and his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Brenda Joyce (McCarty) Bettis.

His survivors include his two daughters: Tammy Bettis of Bates City, Missouri and Luraina Bettis of Blue Springs, Missouri; sister, Linda Bettis of Gladstone Missouri; brother, Nathan Price of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  1. Dave was one of my closest friends.I sure miss him. He was there for me in a time in my life when I needed a good friend.
